Since I already had the foundation on my website, I thought I could branch off and try to tell the many stories of the Elims (now referred to as the National Qualifier) through newspaper articles, mostly from The Windsor Star and their great sports dept.

The articles I transcribed were chosen at random and are a clear indication why the Chiefs/Stars and Green Giants/Thunder have consistently been the top two teams in the province. You can feel it when reading about their latest conquest, or how they have the tools to win another Elims tournament.

You will notice the many holes in the Elims results. It’s because there was missing info in their reporting. The most common error was the teams would play one game, then disappear. There was no result for their second game. Because of that mistake I had to ignore that whole season. Sorry Windsor, Tecumseh, Etobicoke and North York. I know you won, but the mistakes prevented me from documenting how you got there.
